I found this book in a dumpster of the estate of a doctor and her descendants. The home had not been lived in for 35+ years and was left intact. At the time of the auction, the buyers of the toy room did not want most of the contents, so the books had not been in the dumpster more than a day. Before that, I believe this collection belonged to the child, and grandchildren of the doctor, the first of whom was born in 1926 and the last in 1955. The collection was extensive (I saved over 150 books!) and contained many educational and church related books along with coloring books, picture books, and “how-to-draw” books.

The “All About Little Boy Blue” is part of the “All About Series,” which was a collection of children’s books that retold popular nursery rhymes and fairy tales. The series aimed to make these stories affordable and accessible to a wide range of readers. The book was written by Emma Gelders Sterne and illustrated by Thelma Gooch. It was published by Cupples & Leon Company in New York and is part of the series that includes other well-known stories

This book was well loved! It was gifted to a little girl named Anne Young, by her mother who was also named Anne Young (I’ve learned her handwriting while going through other items I bought/found at the auction of both women’s estates). Apparently, Anne learned to hold a crayon while she was “reading” this book ❤️ She was born in 1926 and died just after her 98th birthday in 2024. I tried showing up-close pictures of damage beyond age and normal wear and tear. Online, books in this series sell from $18 and go over $35 (including shipping).
